Albany UU offers a variety of spaces for meetings, performances, celebrations, educational programs, and community events. Our facilities are available to both members and non-members and can accommodate everything from small group meetings and workshops to weddings, concerts, and conferences.

Sanctuary

The Sanctuary features a barrel-vaulted ceiling, tall arched windows, and a custom-built pipe organ, creating an elegant setting for concerts, weddings, memorial services, lectures, and other special events.

Community Hall

Filled with natural light and flexible seating for up to 300 people, Community Hall is well suited for conferences, performances, large meetings, celebrations, and community gatherings.

Channing Hall

Channing Hall accommodates up to 80 seated guests or 100 standing. Connected directly to the kitchen, it is an excellent space for receptions, workshops, meetings, classes, and community events.

Classrooms and Meeting Rooms

Our building includes 13 classrooms and a library that can accommodate workshops, classes, support groups, meetings, and other small gatherings.

Policies, Insurance & Forms

Accessibility

Our entire building is accessible. An elevator provides access to all three floors, and Community Hall includes a stage lift. Accessible restrooms are available in the newer wing of the building.

Event Support and Amenities

Tables and chairs are available throughout the building and may be arranged to meet your event needs. Audio equipment, microphones, projectors, easels, and other resources may be available upon request.

Outside catering is welcome, and renters may also bring food and refreshments for their events. Kitchen use is governed by our Kitchen Use Policy.

Building Systems

Heating and cooling are controlled by staff for each event. Thermostats should not be adjusted by renters. Some areas of the building are fully air-conditioned, including Community Hall, Channing Hall, the Sanctuary, and the library. Other rooms may have window units.

Smoking

Smoking is permitted only outside the building in designated areas. Please use provided receptacles.

Parking

Street parking is available throughout the neighborhood. For certain larger events and when scheduling permits, parking arrangements may be available through the University at Albany across the street. Advance planning is required. A municipal parking lot is also located a short walk east of the building on Washington Avenue.

Insurance

All renters must provide a certificate of insurance for their event. This is typically available through a homeowners, business, or organizational insurance provider. If you hire outside vendors such as caterers or DJs, they must also provide proof of insurance.

Discounted & Donated Space

As part of our commitment to the wider community, Albany UU occasionally offers donated or reduced-rate space to nonprofit organizations with limited resources.

Requests are reviewed by our Social Justice Team and are considered based on alignment with our community priorities, including support for children and families, environmental sustainability, and advocacy for public policies that reflect Unitarian Universalist values.

Organizations interested in being considered for discounted or donated space should submit both a rental application and a donation request application.
