Meaningful Time Spent Together

Get to Know People

Albany UU is more than Sunday worship. It is a community of people who gather to share meals, explore ideas, enjoy one another’s company, learn new things, and build friendships.

There are many ways to connect, whether you are new to Albany UU or have been part of the congregation for years. Some groups meet regularly, while others offer opportunities throughout the year. You do not need to know anyone already to join in. Come curious, come as you are, and find something that interests you.

Congregational Potlucks & Picnics

Several times a year, Congregational Life hosts an informal potluck or picnic where everyone is invited to bring a dish, share a meal, and spend time getting to know one another. No special occasion or culinary skills required, and bringing food is always optional. These relaxed gatherings offer an easy way to meet people you may not know yet and strengthen connections across the congregation.

Circle Dinners

Circle Dinners offer another way to get to know Albany UU members and friends over a shared meal. These informal potluck gatherings bring together small groups for good food and conversation in a relaxed setting. You can bring something homemade, pick something up at the store, or contribute in whatever way works for you.

Circle Dinners typically take place on Saturdays in members’ homes. Check Windows Weekly, our newsletter, for upcoming dates and sign-up information.

Silver Bay Weekend

Each October, Albany UU members and friends join other Unitarian Universalists from around the Hudson Valley for a weekend at Silver Bay on Lake George. With shared meals, outdoor activities, workshops, music, games, and plenty of time to relax together, Silver Bay offers a wonderful chance to form new friendships and deepen existing ones.

Suddenly Adults Swarming

Welcome to the swarm! We are a group of young and young-ish adults that gather each month to eat, explore, and fight dragons (at least when D&D is involved.) Our activities include game nights, holiday parties, going out to eat at local restaurants, hiking, roller skating, movie watching, and whatever other event ideas our lovely members think up. We also offer free childcare for most of our events. Want to learn more? you can reach us at swarming@AlbanyUU.groups.io.

Groups & Shared Interests

Connecting with others around a shared interest can be a great way to find your people at Albany UU. Our groups range from books and philosophy to music, crafts, games, and working together for justice.
